Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese bodywork therapy meaning "finger pressure," using thumb, finger, palm, and sometimes knee pressure on specific body points (meridians) to balance the body's energy flow (Ki/Qi) and promote natural healing, relaxation, and overall well-being, performed fully clothed on a treatment table, incorporating stretches, holding, and kneading. It's holistic, working with energy pathways from Traditional Chinese Medicine but also incorporating Western anatomy, aiming to relieve tension, improve circulation, and support the body's systems.

Somatic Treatment is a method for treating stress.

The method is the work of Dr. Peter A. Levin, and is the result of a multidisciplinary combination that includes brain research, natural healing methods and medical biophysics. The method has been in successful clinical use for over 45 years.

The method recognizes and encourages the body's innate ability to heal itself, and it does so slowly and at the pace of the client.

I studied under the guidance of Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD
Neuroscientist and Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University Medical School, Author of The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma (and many other lecturers).

Pnina first encountered shiatsu 27 years ago during a work visit to Japan, where she received her first shiatsu treatment. She was deeply touched by th Japanese culture, way of thinking, and precision. . Following a physical and emotional crisis, she chose touch-based therapy as one of her healing paths. Through shiatsu, she came to understand how the combination of touch and energy can support deep and meaningful healing.

Her healing journey led to a period of growth and renewed choice—a stage that clarified the meaning of her life and guided her to study shiatsu at Reidman College. Since 2020 she has been practicing as a certified shiatsu therapist, integrating professional knowledge, mindful presence, personal experience, and a heartfelt desire to give back to her patients—and to the world—what she herself has received.

Jenny Hammerstein MD is a certified Worsley Classical Five-Element Acupuncturist (WCF-EA) as well as a US board certified Family Practitioner.

Jenny was drawn to WCF-EA after experiencing how treatment changed her life and seeing that it changes people’s lives in ways Western Medicine can’t. It focuses on identifying and treating the core energetic imbalance. In treating this core imbalance, not only can identified symptoms improve or resolve, but the client can find help in clearing mental or emotional blocks that hold him/her back from achieving personal life goals.

Jenny is constantly awed by the types of changes reported by the patient such as “I feel like myself again” “I am not confused anymore” or “My emotions don’t overwhelm me now.” There are also improvements in physical symptoms, without the use of medications.

At the same time, Jenny is still a physician and is alert to conditions that might benefit from a Western medicine evaluation or treatment.

Jenny’s beginning in the medical field was as a dietitian. She qualified for her RD in 1994 and earned her MS in Nutrition in 1996 at California State University in Los Angeles. After practicing for a few years and finding it ultimately limiting, she went to Yale School of Medicine where she received her MD in 2002. She completed her residency in family practice at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Long Island. From residency, she was hired by the hospital for their outpatient clinic, where she worked for a year and a half. She then moved to Passaic where she had a successful solo medical practice from 2007 to 2011 at which point she made Aliyah with her family. In Israel, she worked with AIM, a private health insurance, taking care of seminary students from 2013 to 2016. During that time she trained privately in F-EA with Raizel Devorah Masail. After completing training, she started practicing acupuncture and did frequent continuing education in the US and in England with the Worsley Institute (for Worsley Classical Five-Element Acupuncture.)

During the Covid Pandemic she repeated the full Worsley Institute Training (WIT), receiving her certificate in 2023.

She has a practice in Jerusalem and is excited to be expanding her practice to Ramat Beit Shemesh at 2nd Nature Healing Center.

Esther Hornstein, L.Ac., is an Acupuncturist as well as the pioneer of 2nd Nature Healing Center. With an innate compassion towards people who suffer with ailments yet would not qualify for Western medical treatment, Esther’s vision is to bring help, hope and healing to all people.

After completing a year in Brooklyn College and a year in Neve Yerushalayim, Esther went on to study in a combined Chinese medicine and Western medicine program, with 4 years of clinical experience from The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City, from 2005-2010. While studying she was the office manager of Flatbush Hatzalah. In 2010 she received her Bachelor of Professional Studies and Master of Science in Acupuncture. She holds a New York State License in Acupuncture and is Nationally Board Certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).

In 2010 Esther started her independent practice in Brooklyn, called 2nd Nature Acupuncture. After giving birth, she encapsulated her own placenta, and because her midwife knew about this, she started sending women to Esther to get their placentas encapsulated as well. As a result of this, placenta work became an integral part of her practice. In 2019 she completed training and became certified with APPA (Association of Placenta Preparation Arts).

In 2014 she made Aliyah and moved her practice to Ramat Beit Shemesh. She has been practicing privately from RBS ever since, and is also a practitioner at the Alternative Medicine clinic at Meuchedet in Beit Shemesh.

About Eli Shapiro

My journey into the world of natural healing and Chinese medicine began with a deeply personal experience. As a child, I suffered a severe burn—an experience that could have left lasting physical and emotional scars. But thanks to natural healing, I recovered without permanent damage and discovered the incredible power of holistic care.

Throughout my life, natural healing has continued to cross my path at key moments, each time offering precise, effective support. These experiences inspired me to study Chinese medicine and holistic therapies—so I could offer others the same healing support that helped me.

I studied at Reidman College, one of Israel’s leading institutions for complementary and integrative medicine.

Today, I specialize in oil massage, Tui Na (Chinese therapeutic massage), cupping therapy, and aromatherapy. I approach every session with care, presence, and professionalism—adapting each treatment to meet the individual’s unique needs, whether it’s physical pain, emotional balance, or simply the need to reconnect with oneself.

My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where healing isn’t just possible—it’s expected.
